Good evening AGC members,

In case you missed it, President Trump named AGC CEO Steve Sandherr to serve on the new “Great American Economic Revival Industry Group,” which will advise the president and his administration on the best ways to restart the broader economy. (Read article HERE) Sandherr will share how the construction industry offers a roadmap to recovery as one of the few industries that has been able to operate, successfully, during the pandemic. He will also urge the President to allow the industry to rebuild our economy by boosting investments in infrastructure, call for additional funding for Paycheck Protection Program loans and urge greater production and distribution of PPE, especially masks.

Among the impacts of the coronavirus has been a sharp decline in highway trust fund revenue for many state transportation departments. As a result, some states, including North Carolina, have already announced cutbacks to their highway construction projects. AGC is joining with transportation officials from across the country in urging Congress to keep our crews working improving vital infrastructure, especially given the need to protect jobs and take advantage of record-low traffic flows. Visit the AGC Action Alert Center:https://advocacy.agc.org/dot_funding_alert to make sure your voice is heard with Congress today.

Is your firm planning to take advantage of the new Net Operating Loss carryback provisionsthat were included in the most recent coronavirus recovery bill, known as the CARES Act? If so, please share your story with us on how the new provisions will help your firms weather the crisis. Please send your stories to AGC of America’s Matt Turkstra at matthew.turkstra@agc.org.

In addition, if your firm is working on a construction project that is contributing to the expansion of the nation’s health care capacity during the COVID-19 crisis, please consider sharing photos and videos with AGC of America by emailing Brian Turmail, vice president of public affairs & strategic initiatives, at brian.turmail@agc.org. Your work is making a difference and we want to hear about it so we can help tell the story of the industry’s role in fighting the pandemic.

AGC of America has developed a new website designed to highlight how the construction industry is working to protect construction workers and the public from the spread of the coronavirus. This new site, workingsafe.agc.org, highlights many of the steps firms are taking to protect workers and includes photos of different examples of these practices. Feel free to use, and share, this site as you feel appropriate. And contact Brian Turmail at brian.turmail@agc.orgwith any suggested additions to the site.

And make sure you check the AGC of America coronavirus website HERE and the AGC Connection app HERE frequently for any updates.
