SMPS Colorado: Principles of Photography

October 22 @ 11:00 am - 1:45 pm

$35 – $55

Principles of Photography will provide you technical photographic knowledge to help you better understand and communicate your vision internally and externally. This vocabulary and know-how will grant you the ability to implement your goals with your team or a professional photographer. This session will empower you to achieve great photography in the A/E/C Industry.

This event will be held in-person and to comply with current COVID-19 guidelines. We will hold two 45-minute sessions each capped at 9 participants*. Participants will be seated on blankets or chairs (provided by participants) no less than 6 feet apart  as Ely Hemnes, of The Unfound Door, presents the Fundamentals of Photography and Project Photography Basics. Following this presentation, Ely will lead the participants in a hands-on practice session – so bring your cameras! The program will wrap up with a questions and answers session.

As an optional bonus, Ely will provide headshots for interested participants at reduced rates. Please see this flyer for details and sign up for your headshot when you register for the event!

For those that attended the event, Ely would provide a 10% reduced rate for all Company Photography Educational Sessions. These sessions are curated for your company and your specific team needs. Learn the fundamentals of project photography, how to use your company camera, editing and post-production, creating a visual asset library, and more!

*We will update instructions for physical-distancing practices as we near the event date to ensure we are in compliance with the latest guidelines. At a minimum, participates will be required to wear masks when they are not eating and maintain at least 6 feet between others.

Participants will walk away with:

  • Discover how to create the right image that meets your companies vision and brand.
  • Understand the elements of manual mode; shutter speed, ISO, and aperture, and how they work together.
  • Learn how to adequately prepare for and accomplish having your projects photographed.
  • Optimize your time by standardizing your photography preferences and relevant logistics with Guides.
  • Identify how best to produce the right results within each type of photography
  • Discuss the value of professional photos for proposals versus iPhone photos
  • Examine how to best empower your on-site team members with taking progress photos.
