We are living in unprecedented times. As every leader, business owner and individual in our community is working to navigate the unknown circumstances that COVID-19 has brought to our world, we know that taking safety precautions and coming together as a community to help one another is going to be critical to getting through these challenging times.

According to the American Medical Association, “shortages of this critical PPE are posing a significant risk for our ability to treat COVID-19 patients and contain the spread of this pandemic. Shortages continue to pose serious risks to the health and safety of our healthcare workforce, as well as the patients they treat.”

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen the construction industry come together to help those on the front lines of the COVID-19 battle. Many of our general contractors, specialty contractors and suppliers have proactively been pulling together and donating their large surplus of N95 masks, latex gloves and protective eyewear to healthcare institutions around the state in order to protect workers who are on the front lines.

At the Arizona Builders Alliance (ABA), we’re proud of the way our members in the construction industry have been leading and responding to the call from the healthcare community for assistance. We know the need for protective equipment continues, and the ABA is encouraging others in the construction industry as well as other industries who have N95 masks, latex gloves and protective eyewear available to help by also donating them and supporting Arizona’s healthcare workers and first responders.

We’re in this together and will come out of it together. Please join the ABA and the construction industry by making critical protective wear available where it is most needed.

If you have PPE donations, please contact an institution in your area and help them to bolster their supply, or reach out to these institutions who are accepting donations:

  • Honor Health: Tim Miller
  • Dignity Health: Larissa Spraker
  • Banner: Paul Oppat or CC Steve Eiss

Thank you for your support and generosity!
